Mild feverishness, disordered sleep pattern, heaviness of limbs, headaches, general confusion, lack of appetite.

You might think I'm getting the flu, but in fact, it is perfectly obvious that I'm suffering from Green Disease.

Gah. Now my lack of specificity is a problem.

Are we talking about a Pearl Jam song? That wasn't what I meant...

No, we're talking about the late medieval malady.

Good good, but still not what I thought. Though what I thought was, nonetheless, medieval-related...

You not heard of "green sickness"? It is my favourite piece of medieval medical knowledge.

It's a malady afflicting late medieval virgins. Symptoms as described above, plus various other things from insomnia to lesbianism.

Cure: marry 'em off! Or, in some cases, apply a hot compress between the legs.

Oh medieval people, you so special...

It is a pretty amusing diagnosis though...

Amusingly, in 1910 Marie Stopes identified the same set of "hysterical" symptoms in her married female clientele. Unlike the 14th century, she didn't think virgins likely to suffer, placing the blame not on a lack of sex but a lack of SATISFACTORY sex.

Marie Stopes is BRILLIANT. "Married Love" is a crack-up to read, but also pretty spankin' awesome in many respects. Weird class bias, not so brilliant.

Hmm there's always a cloud to the silver lining I guess...

I like the reversal though. That's worth an award all by itself...
