I dated a guy who had his books in Library of Congress Classification. (Which, jeez, does US hegemony mean you're familiar with that system, or not (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_of_Congress_Classification)? They use it here in Canada...)
I *know* of it, and pooh-pooh it. Dewey decimal code and all its weirdness for me... (Why are Sir Gawain and Piers Ploughman 821, Shakespeare 822, but Malory 823 with the Tolkien? Oh, Dewey, why so weird?
Yes, I'm kind of a fan of the pure numbering. Also, do you know about the Seattle Public Library, the new(ish) fancy one? The stacks are all in a giant spiral, and they go from 000 to 999 with the numbers on the floor to guide you along. So you can walk the whole system! It's pretty brilliant.
There's also the Library Hotel (http://www.libraryhotel.com/), of course... Though they're not quite as true to the system as one would hope.
