it really isn't. it's quite scary, in fact. i have to re-install word at some point but am putting it off for the time being.
am also regretting having used endnote. i think it's overrated - very useful when it's working, but i'm totally paranoid it'll screw up, and if it does, very hard to fix. this is particularly relevant as i don't know what's going to happen to my files when i open them with proper word again, properly linked with endnote again...
sorry if you haven't used endnote that would make no sense at all.
yeah. it's (particularly) not as useful if you have lots of fiddly or specialist type things in your footnotes etc. possibly better for science people?
i'm thinking of making my own database in excel. the main advantage of endnote is being able to insert the whole citation right away - if i just note down the number of the row in my spreadsheet and the page number, i'll also be able to copy across directly when tidying up. that sounds foolproof doesn't it? that way i could also copy & paste sections without fucking up numbering and ibids and what not.
thanks! i hadn't done it yet cos i was worried there was a gaping hole in it and didn't want to fuck things up even more. but yeah i still haven't thought of any holes so sounds good. :)
