Cereal Offences
Jun. 19th, 2007 06:37 pmKate: This pie is rather good. Except for the crunchy bits, which i hope aren't meat.
Me: No, it's Weet-Bix
Kate: what????
Me: You put it on shepherd's pie. And tuna mornay. Pretty much any casserole. Weet-Bix and cheese on top of a shepherds pie- makes a lovely crust.
Kate: You know, i don't think that sentence has ever been uttered before.
Me: yes it has, my mother said so!
Kate: People think I'm weird, because i eat them dry with vegemite and butter... I don't put them in a bloody casserole! *huffs off to get desert*
*Amy sidles up next to Tess*
Me: Tess, you put Weet-Bix in casseroles, don't you?
Tess: NO!!! Why would i EVER do that?
Me: *downcast* because it makes them crunchy?
Reena: What EVIL GREMLIN inspired THAT thought?
Me: my mother?

I had no idea weet-bix was such a touchy subject...
ed: apparently Reena said INTERNAL GREMLIN. but my version sounds better

Date: 2007-06-19 09:28 pm (UTC)But some people use crushed corn-flakes (http://www.stephaniegladden.com/images/cool/CScerealCornMask01.jpg)instead of breadcrumbs - I've never used or tasted it, but I think its not considered unusual.

Date: 2007-06-20 01:04 am (UTC)you do have a weetbix equivalent, i believe. weetabix or weeeties or something.

Date: 2007-06-20 04:44 am (UTC)Personally, I don't think it's that weird. And neither is Kate's dry Weet-Bix with butter and veg (that's actually quite nice, and you can swap the veg for other things, too, like tomato sauce :P). After seeing my brother eat Ham + Peanut Butter Sandwiches, nothing seems that strange anymore. Nothing seems quite real, either...

Date: 2007-06-20 05:51 am (UTC)Oh, and I meant to ask, with the casseroles, does it still go on top? Because you seem to have asked Tess about Weetbix in casseroles, which is a whole other kettle of fish.
