performative church

You know, I've always objected to those churches where worship becomes a performance.

Now I realise I'm in one.

It's not that Curtis is an attention-seeking singer- quite the opposite! He skulks about in the back with his microphone where no one can see him. Nor are Ashwin and Steve particularly attention-seeking pianists.

The performance on show at Ultimo evening service is me, the clown act on the overhead projector. People seem to think it's a good idea to watch me, and they seem to find it funny when they do. I don't think this is necessarily a good thing.

i don't know WHY i'm the OP... there are plenty of other people proficient at it. I can only conclude that they want the amusement.

My theory, and I am basing this off of what others have said to me about me doing the powerpoint slide changing...

People let you do it because they are worried because they both see it as simple but know it is actually really hard to do. So they let someone else do it. That way others who just think its a simple task and don't understand the difficulty will only mock you when you make a mistake and not anyone else who would have made excatly the same error.

i think they feel sorry for me- like when you know someone tries really hard and you don't want to tell them that other people do it better.

but thats just the thing, there are those few that do feel sorry for you and those who realise that it is really hard and they themselves probably could not do better

though not mine, not after that holy water thing.
