Photos: lunch on the Isis
Sep. 8th, 2013 10:22 pmShortly before we headed to France, Dr J's mother drove to Oxford and we went down to an absolutely charming pub, only accessible by towpath or barge.
But first, some bees in lavender:

Iffley Lock
Various birdies:

Upstream from the lock:

(Featuring horrible party boat)
Lock:

And downstream:

Our luncheon venue. Apparently they once served exactly two dishes: Stew with meat, and stew without meat. Good stew. At this stage there is more of a range but it's still good.

And alongside the lock there used to be a mill - many different bridges are required to cross the river: as well as the lock, there's a portage channel for rowboats, and the old leet for the mill.

Observe the mill-stone by the door.
