highlyeccentricJohn: *flips out his wallet, shows a card with a big cross on it, reading CLERGY* you wouldn't believe the places this'll get you.
james: what is it?
john: a clergy badge.
me: from where?
john: a bookshop, actually. but i've got kids into concerts with this thing.
*raised eyebrows all 'round*
john: really! i was at this concert, there were two kids there, really distressed 'cos they'd lost their tickets. So i marched up to the security guard, and i said to him, 'look, mate, I'm a minister of the word, these two kids have lost their security pass and can't get back in.' And he says to me, 'oh, hang on a minute father, i'll speak to my supervisor.' and out comes the supervisor, and he looks and me and he says 'well, ok, father, this is on you. is it true?' i say, 'its true.' And we waves at the kids and says 'come in through this way'. There's a huge queue up happening, and he brings the kids to the front of the line and ushers them in in front of everyone.

john, smugly: it was a U2 concert.
in other news, Chinese Opera Kareoke was happening in the back room of the church tonight. always worth a quiet snigger.
