Referencing of DOOM.

THREE LINES in 10 pt font. It's a bit ridiculous. And a little before that i had to reference a book printed in Hammondsworth, Suffolk, England.
People who live in places not easily identifiable by the town should not be allowed to publish books, I say. And all the unversities in the world should be indexed, so you can just write a number, UP403 or something, and no one need know where the place actually is.
For that matter, all publishers should have names of no more than three syllables or one word, whichever is shorter. And INC and PTY LTD should be burnt on a sacrificial pyre.
And someone should shoot whoever decided to name the journal Cambridge Medieval Celtic Studies. And then change it after several issues to Cambrian Medieval Celtic Studies. short names, people. even if they make no sense whatsoever. The Australian and New Zealand Foundation for Medieval Studies get points for naming their journal Parergon. Sounds daft and tells you little about the content, but it's easy to type.
on a side note, there are so many cool journals up in stack, and i'm very sad that i'll never have time to go through them all. Stumbled across Revue d'histoire eccesiastique on level two yesterday.... eight big fat volumes, didn't have time to check and see how much if any of it was in english. but that looks like fun
:D
finally, some amusement for you:
me: hey, you know that red book we found up on the eighth floor?
david: yes
me: turns out it was put together to present to some guy on his 65 fifth birthday. what a fun birthday present. [/sarcasm]
david: you'd like it
....
me: shuddup.

All right all right, not nearly so impressive *grumble*
I feel your pain though. I hated references too.
