There is a mysterious force at work in Fisher Library, and its malevolent aim is to ensure that whatever book you're looking for is neither borrowed out nor on the shelf at the time when you're looking for it.

This is a clearly maleficient creature.

Adam sent an email 'round to the history class yesterday asking where to find relevant journals, because all the books seem to have vanished. And he's given this force a name: le fantome de la Bibliotheque. And so it shall be known henceforth.

Sorting shelves, though they're never there either. A book was labelled 'recently returned" on our library catalogue; it took 24 hours to become 'available', and even then was still only on the sorting shelves. MADNESS.

nah, things are never on the sorters...

fisher never says a book is 'available'. it says, with good reason, 'check shelf' :P
