People Who Know About Makeup (Fahye? Jamethiel?) - I bought 3x MAC eyeshadows while I was overseas (a purple, a pearly white, and a green). I've settled on some nice colour combinations with the purple and white, especially with a greyblue shadow I already had; the green still has some work to go before I can wear it without looking like I "escaped from Cirque du Soleil" (thanks, K!).

Problem, though: within about an hour, my carefully applied and blended colours have almost disappeared - flaked off, I assume? I'm used to this happening with cheap makeup, but wasn't expecting it from MAC.

Am I doin' it Rong?

Nope! All makeup will do that. Just find an eye primer and pat it on before hand. I would rec you stuff, but I suspect that finding a local retailer would be cheaper and better than me rec'ing you stuff you'd have to get shipped, especially since the top primer company (Urban Decay) has started to ship boxes empty instead of wait/refund when they're out of stock.

And not all makeup does that - my beloved Clinique eye sets never did, or took all day before they flaked. But they only come in Serious Colours and cost _more_ than MAC, which is quite an achievement.

Well, yes, the very best stuff won't... but it's also a matter of how much you want to spend.

I love their everything, except for the price... *sigh* I've had good luck with nutrimetics eyeshadow, though - it lasts well on the face, and also remarkably well in the compact. I'm still using one I was given at sixteen. I actually gave away my last Clinique compact because, much as I loved it, it doubled up on the same colours as my nutrimetics compact, which I liked better.

I came by a good deal of Clinque makeup (I almost never use any other lipstick) through years of buying the face care products and getting free gift bags. :D
