Last night:
- finished the on-time marking, whilst watching several episodes of White Collar (this is relevant because it necessitated the unplugging of my keyboard and mouse).
- having set computer back up again for normal use, I had this weird thing wherein I could only click on things about half the time. I'd go to click on Start menu and it'd flicker up then disappear again. I'd try to click something in Facebook and the screen would flicker thenstay exactly where it was. And sometimes it would work, but mostly it wouldn't.
- After a while, this stopped.
- This morning, I try to turn my computer on and I get BEEPY SHRIEKY NOISES.
- Nothing I do will stop the beepy noises. I turn the computer off and back on again.
- This time it tells me 'keyboard stuck error unplug external keyboard'.
- I unplug external keyboard, and run diagnostics. Nothing is wrong with the computer.
... turns out my ESC key was stuck down. It's been stuck for a while, but I guess my latest attempt to de-stick it stuck it into the down position. Thus all the programs and things disappearing when I tried to call them up.
Also, no wonder the boot program was confused.
Guess it's time to buy a new keyboard.
