Goulash recipe (untried)

Pulled out of housemate's boyfriend's cookbook, for trying later
1 pound lean boneless stewing beef
2 medium onions, peeled and chopped
A dash of cayenne pepper
3 cups beef stock or broth
2 cups water
1/2 tsp carraway seeds
1/2 tsp crumbled dried majoram
salt and pepper
can of diced tomatoes
2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
2 medium carrots peeled and sliced
2 red capsicum, cut into chunks
2 tbsp flour
2 tbsp water
sour cream
* Cut beef into cubes
* Brown beef in a pan - remove with a slotted spoon and reserve
* Add onions and garlic to pan and cook for 4 min, stirring occaisionally
* Add paprika, cayenne, stock, water, carraway, majoram, salt, pepper, and beef
* Stir well - bring to boil over a moderate heat
* Reduce to low and cook, covered, for 45 min
* Add tomatoes, potatoes, carrots and capsicum - stir and return to boil
* Cover and cook for 30 min
* Combine flour and 2 tbsp of water; stir to form a smooth paste. Add slowly to soup, stirring well. Cook over low heat, stirring until thickened.
* Serve soup in individual bowls - top with sour cream.
