ZOMG THIS!

I don't believe in soulmates at all. Really it's more romantic that way - because if you've only got one person out there for you, then where's the importance on making things work? Things are going to work out anyway, regardless of what you do and if they don't then obviously they weren't really your soulmate. But if there are lots of people out there that you could potentially be compatible with and happily share your life with, then that's what makes this one special. Things get tough, and you could easily leave and be with someone else (not saying things wouldn't be equally tough there, of course), but you don't because you love them - and that's not something you're DESTINED to do, it just is.

Which is basically what that post is saying, only I didn't read it until I was halfway through that XD

I agree with your statements.

Which, oddly, doesn't stop me going ridiculous over certain people, romantic and aromantic, with whom I decide I have an uncanny affinity. Eg, you'll probably hear me say quite a lot that my life has always had an [livejournal.com profile] kayloulee shaped hole in it. Which is true. For a while, said hole was more-or-less filled by [livejournal.com profile] gryphonvere, but that fact doesn't reduce my thing about Kylee at all, aside from making it easier to move away from her.

Yeah, but I think that's more to do with... the way you click with them as a person, and not something arbitrary and predetermined.

And I don't think it's exactly ridiculous. Even though I objectively think "Yeah, I could be happy with someone else" it doesn't stop me from feeling like no one else could possibly be quite the same.
