Message sent to my mother this afternoon circa 5pm, lest she arrive home to an empty house and be afrighted: "Am not dead, am in Raymond Terrace.'
On reflection, there's not much difference between these two states of being.

Can't even get a coffee in the Tce after 5pm.

On the other hand I have the library copy of LWW, and Ballykissangel, and at lease one of the Banned Books I said I'd read this year. I also finally sent off my membership application to Electronic Frontiers Australia, and my mother is bemused by my sudden thing for anti-censorship action.

Do you agree with my assessment of the place?

To be fair this was the early 80s so I have no recollection of it. But my parents drove past the place we lived in sometime in the mid-90s, and it was definitely bogan-land. We've got yellow-toned photos of a neat little house with a neat front yard of trimmed grass and a humble garden of my mum's flowers ... the place they showed me had no grass, probably on account of the three cars parked in the front yard (that isn't counting the cars parked in the gutter and in the driveway), ripped fly-screens hanging from the windows, and just a general air of delapidation. I impression was that it had gone from defence housing to housing-trust. This is just the street we lived on, I can't even remember the rest of the place.
