Gah. This Yvain paper is late and getting later.

Also I was wrong when I said all the truly personal relationships are m/m or f/f.

The most stable, equal and mutually beneficial relationship in the poem, the relationships around which the whole action depends, is the aromantic heterosocial relationship between Yvain and Lunette. It's the only relationship which Yvain doesn't break and doesn't have to reforge. Unlike Gawain and Laudine, Lunette doesn't demand exclusivity, so friendship with her doesn't put Yvain in a double-bind. And while Lunette's treatment of Laudine is duplicitous, she is honest with Yvain and keeps her word to him every time, and he to her.

Upon first reading, I thought that you said "aromatic relationship" instead of aromantic. It definitely changed how I was reading the post, but in a rather hilarious way.

you can still work that into your argument in a way. Non-sex relationships still dominate, and it shows examples of all 3 -m/m, f/f, m/f. heteronormativity is still good (so no-one falls under suspicion), but also tricky because of the sex. Shows complexities etc. The good side of heterosexuality and the bad. I dunno. Haven't read the text, and I don't know how that fits with the duplicitous sister thingy.

Anyway, I can be wrong, since this post is about Things Not In. XX april.
