The Federal Government is attempting to silence critics of its controversial plan to censor the internet, which experts say will break the internet while doing little to stop people from accessing illegal material such as child pornography.

Internet providers and the government's own tests have found that presently available filters are not capable of adequately distinguishing between legal and illegal content and can degrade internet speeds by up to 86 per cent.

Documents obtained by us show the office of the Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy, tried to bully ISP staff into suppressing their criticisms of the plan.

NOW the mainstream media catches on...

*this is ur brother btw...bloody lj is a gimp n wont let me post with a name and wa not unless i join...join lj..ha id rather loose testicals in a tragic cooking accident than join this*

now moving on:

the whole proposal is just insane for expletives to propppperly sum up. honestly have they not drawn parallels between this proposal and well...china...and Iran...yep mm hope im not the only one to notice.
think of the losses...piracy i mean cum on...the internet was made for two things, piracy and pron.
They are going to try and take away the best part of the internet; piracy. i am truly curious as to how they are intending on policing torrents and such, since to the best of my knowledge there is a million possible methods of anonymously downloading torrents through proxies and the like. i mean i dealt with it nonstop with the filthy firewall at school...workd out alright for me....soo theoretically...that was small scale, the answer for me was smaller...this is bigger so surely some much smarter nerdieish person will come up with a hole which gets me and everyother free internets luvin teen out there do as they will.

secondly, i think the gov is looking in the wrong place for child predators. they need to stop with this internets crap and look inside their own government. Bob Collins...killed himself coz he was under investigation for multiple child pron offences...

so..did they catch him by censoring and monitoring the internet? pfft no. they probly jus lookd at the fat sackofcrap n thought gee he looks rather pedish..lets investigate..oh good god wat did we find. pedstufs.

honestly the arsehats in charge of our gov now. gawd i wish i was able to vote. not that my one vote would make THAT much differenc....but at least id feel content that i gave it my best.

one min today i was praising our political system, the next i hear this. thankfully its not a fault of our system, rather those twats in it, esspecialy those in charge. oh and u 2 Australia, u who did not notice that this proposition was put forward in 2006 a year before the election.. hmm? hmm? got much to say for that. wats my excuse? i was 15, politics was not my concern.

moving on from this, i thnk ur post was a little short for a concern of this scale. not only does australia have to pay unparalleled..'ly high prices for mr internet, they now want to take away our freedom of use. i thnk a good 3 pages of rant is worthy in this case.

oh and before u start attacking my gramma and spelling, i figure its only a shrt amunt of time after the gov take ova the internet, before the grama police come after me with charges of crimes agaisnt the engrish langage.

i thnk thats buot all i had to say.

woops..
