It might be me, but I seem to remember that's the reason that, technically, Handel's Messiah isn't considered, um, canon by Catholics first up and also some Protestants (shut up, I know more about fandom and literature than I know about theology, and besides Christianity is a meme all in itself): the bits of the Bible (?) that Handel used for it contain debated points of translation and whatnot that can be interpreted completely differently depending on where you put the commas. Or whatever.
I've just checked and he used the KJB for the libretto, which is why I said Catholics - because forgive me if I'm wrong and I probably am, but isn't the KJB's whole point that it's in English and so was a big sticking point for the English Catholics at the time?
Haha, must be past 10pm, I'm using run-on sentences.
Am doing. But I seriously need to get myself into some kind of a medieval-language class. I'm not too fussed about which one.
Do you think that learning a non-Asian language would be harder after learning Japanese, which has a completely different grammar system to most European languages?
