What day is it again?
If you're wondering why Sydney's Town Hall is pink, it's to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Month. That's the kind of publicity you need when there's serious competition.
October is also National Spinal Cord Injuries Awareness Month, Lupus Awareness Month, Health Literacy Month, Rett Syndrome Awareness Month, World Blindness Awareness Month and International Strategic Planning Month.
They could have had a week each, but the weeks were already taken by Mental Health Week, Citizen Advocacy Week, St John Week, Foot Health Week, Nutrition Week, the National Week of Deaf People, National Occupational Therapy Week, Hemophilia Awareness Week, Children's Week, Sleep Awareness Week, Disarmament Week and International Herpes Week.
And we haven't even got to the awareness days yet - there are more than 20 of them, ranging from Walk to Work Day on October 1 (which was cruelly double-booked with the International Day of Older Persons) to World Development Information Day on October 24.
So this month, try to just be aware, generally.
