I love chosing VOLUNTARY presents.

I think the idea of COMPULSORY presents for eg Christmas is a horrible idea. I stopped doing Christmas presents and I'm so much happier.

Now I just buy presents if I see something a friend might like at a random time of year, and give it at a random time of year.

I like Christmas most of all, because at the season of ALL THE PRESENTS there's less pressure to make each one Meaningful with a Heartfelt Card and just the right emotional words. Gib stuff! Then flee!

Ah. I have Baggage around Christmas, around my parents giving me gifts when I was a young child that showed a complete lack of thinking about what I might like, and then getting FURIOUS when I failed to adequately perform gratitude.

I actually love giving presents. The hardest part is remembering that it's not always socially acceptable to drown somebody in ALL THE THINGS just because I know they might like each item individually.

That is ALSO a problem. I love giving presents! I hate having to engage in a Thoughtful Emotional Ritual about them! Unfortunately I can't cascade a pile of presents onto someone and run away without a word.
