The Price of Being Female

highlyeccentricwhy must being female be so bloody EXPENSIVE???? honestly.
mental picture for today: amy, at ten past eleven, realises she has a doctors appointment in five minutes. scrambles around hunting for her stuff, then sets off. Trip to the holme building takes about ten minutes, and she has one in which to achieve this. She is also wearing sandals. Thus, anyone in the Square-Manning walkway has the strange sight of a girl, in nice cargo pants type things, carrying an Audrey Hepburn handbag in one hand and her shoes in the other, bolting across campus...
all of this to get a peice of paper which will allow me to purchase, for twenty-five dollars (!!) just one month in which, providing it works, i might actually know what my body is doing, when its doing it, and hopefully that it's doing it with minimum pain. *grumbles* and that's the government subsidised price, on what the doctor said was a cheaper one!
i'm picturing some little man in a laboratory somewhere pushing chemicals around: 'aha! look what this does... and you know, i think women will be willing to pay the earth for this! *rubs hands together in evil manner* ehxellent...'

ed: and what's with giving them girl's names? i had a choice of 'Yazmin', 'Diane' or 'Brenda'! (picked the one which sounded least like someone's mother. i mean, really. giving motherish names to contraceptives? gives off mixed messages, doesn't it?)
