Heart-rending
Jun. 18th, 2008 11:37 pmI am a nightowl. On a good night, I start work at six or seven and work through until two. On a bad, I start at ten and work until whenever I can't think anymore.
Miss Coco, adorable kitty that she is, isn't used to night owl humans. She seems to think that there are only two things one should be doing after 10pm: sleeping, or paying attention to her.
Right now, she's prowling the room, crying forlornly and scratching up the sofa to get my attention. It is very difficult to work when there is a cat whimpering for your attention just yards away.
Especially when it's the most adorable cat in the universe, and it belongs to the most awesome teacher you've ever had, and this kitty should never ever be sad!
It wouldn't be so bad if I could cuddle her and make it better. But at night, she wants to play chasies all over the house. This is a most boring game: it involves Coco running and hiding under the bed, and me going back to the study for five minutes before she comes around to cry again, and the bolts off as soon as I come near her. Apparently the Geek plays rough-and-tumble with her, but either he's a lot better at catching cats than I, or she's still too scared of me to be caught.
