As a separate thing, I FINALLY figured out what the base line at the end of 'Epiphany' is. It's this deep menacing rumble, out of which, for months, all I could make out was the word 'Leviticus'. Yesterday it clicked- they're singing "Timothy Romans Corinthians Leviticus" over and over. How's that for threatening?

O' course, that sends me scrabbling for my concordance. Good Uniting Church upbringings don't tend to instil a great familiarity with Scripture, but I thought I knew all the homosexuality verses (for the purposes of beating St Paul and fundamentalists in Exegetical Twister). Romans 26-7, Leviticus and Genesis 19 (Sodom). Champion Exegetical Twister players have negating explanations for all of these, although I've always favoured 'St Paul was a bastard, ignore him' as a good standpoint in the absence of Exegetical Twister champions.
ANYWAY, apparently I missed a bit in Corinthians- a nice list of offenders who won't inherit in the Kingdom, including prostitutes, thieves and male homosexuals. All I can find in Timothy is a vague reference to 'perverts', which could mean anything, but knowing St Paul probably DOES mean homosexuals.¹ I feel cheated, now. Leftie UCA folks, generally, don't get the 101 Ways To Evangelise training other denominations get, but we *do* (er. did, I guess) get Ways To (try to) Convince People That Homosexuality Is OK By God, and a staple of this was that Romans was the only thing you needed to explain away in the New Testament. HMPH.

1. Well, actually, I also found a passage which appears to be the basis of the Anglo-Saxon institution of 'nunnan', ie, consecrated widows. But that wasn't what I was looking for.
