Just to let you all know, I'm existing at GMT +11. If you're on another continent and wondering where your carnivalesque has got to, it's now 1am on the 20th, I'm working tomorrow and I'll attempt to get it up before 1am on the 21st, my time.

Which also means, if you've done or seen anything spectacular in medieval or ancient blogging, you have about fifteen hours to let me know about it. floweringnutcase AT gmail ETC.

If anyone knows of good ancient history or archaeology student blogs, i'm particularly looking for and failing to find them. Mostly professors so far as I can tell.

ED: also, if anyone knows where I can find an online image of the Byzantine mozaic which is a copy of Empress Theodora's portrait, except it's a cat in her clothes, I'm looking for that too. Doesn't need to be high quality or from a reliable source.

Aaaand I've just got home from a stupidly long lunch shift, and a bastardly drive home including accidents, detours and WEATHER.
Due to aforementioned WEATHER i'm unplugging the modem and going to do something useful with my life aside from the internet until all the thunder has gone. Your carnivalesque will happen when my modem isn't in danger of exploding anymore.

One of the things which I like best about the blogosphere is the way in which an idea or a topic gets picked up and batted about from blog to blog, in an unstructured sort of way which, in my head, forms lovely little spiderwebs back and forth across the internet.memory-keeping, or: a long series of vaguely connected links )

And finally, is anyone else insanely jealous of the Cranky Professor and his class? Just off for a semester's classes in Rome, don't mind us...
Which classes have you taken which really ought to come with a guided tour? What sort of academic tours do you really wish existed?
Me, I think John Pryor's course "Crusade and Jihad" really deserves a tour of the Eygpt and the Holy Land... His slide collection is awesome, but a poor substitute.

Happy Carnivalesque, everybody! It's quite a long one, but hopefully a good one.

Note, if, like Jeff Sypeck, you find that I've misspelled your name the whole way through the post, don't hesitate to let me know. In my defence, it was one am.
