*dances around* i get to be assistant community leader! and Rah says she's planning on having one community run from Sydney, so's that we geographically challenged people don't have to break our necks trying to get to community meetings in Newcastle. *is happy*
so i've been wandering around grinning since i decided to take it up... joel came around the corner and took one look at me and demanded to know where I'd found a boyfriend!
mean Rah gave me a DECISION, though. i hate those things. Had a choice of assistant community leader or Head Orderly. Head Orderly being what I'd put down to do, been planning to do, having spent two years as orderly i reckon i could do that with little difficulty (the challenge being to be up for breakfast, but there's no rule against being in your pyjamas as HO :P)
I rang Decision Assistance, namely Kris Cone, and he assured me that Assistant Community Leader is much more fun and a whole lot less stress. I like the sound of that.
Mum's gonna be Assistant Head Cook. She wasn't even going to go back, but she can't say no to Rah, it's quite amusing. I guess she really wants to do it. Maybe she likes it that Rah has confidence in her, same as me. Who knows?
Went with Shaye to some information day at Newcastle Uni today. Completely didn't need to be there, she didn't need to ask about anything in particular. She wanted to find the teaching building and figure her way around. We discovered that Newcastle Uni has no education building but a million mosquitoes. I'm told there's the Education Side and the Other Side, neatly dividing the Uni. This stresses Shaye out quite a bit- she wanted one building and one only. Quite frankly, i'd be a bit scared too. Maybe not if i hadn't been to sydney first, but compared to our nice grid layout, that place is a rabbit warren! And freaking HUGE! But gorgeous... It might be a swamp, but it's a beautiful one. I was standing there on one of the balconies over the bush, telling Shaye it's so beautiful, and she's like: 'what? it's bush.' She'd like nice manicured lawns and neatly trimmed trees...
I think we need to swap lives. She can have orderly Sydney Uni, and I'll have Newie. Only I want my sydney uni courses.
We found the Auchmuty library. It looks very impressive... until you remember that Fisher has six more floors :D *grins*
Dominique got her transfer to Newie, but apparently it's not all as smooth as she'd like and she might not take it up. She and Wendy were in here this afternoon, we watched The Notebook. Mum did very well and only used two tissues.
Bah. Bad Shaye. She's given me this wisful feeling like i want to go to newie after all...
Went out with Beth and Sarah G. last night. We saw Memoirs of a Geisha. I thought it was really good, although the others thought it was too long. Had dinner in a nice little Spanish restaurant, i got octopus in my pasta... i don't see what the deal is with octopus. It's way too chewy. Sarah was in great form last night. Some days you can talk to Sarah and she'll say nothing you wouldn't want your grandma to hear. Some days you can't. Yesterday was the latter. It's a wonder Beth hasn't had a heart attack yet...
Dad and I are sad, sad creatures. We've been sitting there watching SBS 2 greek news, trying to figure out what it's about just by the pictures. We gathered that someone was arrested, dad's got his bets on fraud.
I rang jemimah yesterday in the hope that she knew what today's info session was for. she'd never heard of it, but we ended up talking for a while. tried to convince her she should come to easter camp. She also felt the need to ask me if will and i actually did go out... i probably should be offended, but its not worth the bother. If she didn't think i was an ex then she'd be less likely to worry about me hanging around. I hope.
Made a 'play date' with Rah ;). She's apparently gonna cook me dinner thursday week. I like that Rah.
hmm... that might be it. Oh, and i printed all of my photopoems off. Navi's not keen on Other Places 1 and 3, thinks they look 'homemade'. Not really sure how i could improve them, if the photoshopping's amatureish it's 'cos i have no idea what i'm doing. The others, particularly all the effects of the relationship between text and picture that he liked, were mostly flukes.
Finally started that notebook Quis, Will and associates got me for my 17th. It's a great notebook, i have this mad urge to write in it all the time, but I'm not writing poetry at the moment and the photos are done, so i've nothing to write about. Started a new hardcopy journal, too. It's an old planner from 1999... at my terrible rate of journalling it'll take me four years (at an optimistic estimate) to fill it up. But hey, can't waste a good leather bound gold edged book, even if it is a planner from 99.
