Well first off I am deeply curious about the KFC/Holy Grail THISAWAY icon. XD also, the rue obscure and the nunnery vs grad school one.

Good choices! This one (KFC/Holy Grail) is a photo I took in Canberra in, I think, 2010. The town centre was being renovated, and big yellow hoarding blocked off a street. You had to go thataway to get to KFC, or to the Holy Grail, which is a mediocre nightclub that I somehow never managed to go to in the entire time I lived there.

The Rue Obscure is in a small town on the south of France, somewhere between Nice and Menton. Can I remember where? No. It's a steep downhill alley, with the houses built /over/ it to accommodate the steep drop in ground level. Obscure, as in French for 'dark'. It's me silhouetted against the egress - my then-boyfriend took the photo, and I like the adventure/outward looking-ness of it.

Ah, Nunnery or Grad School. I picked this one up on LJ during my undergrad, back when people hoarded icons like tazos. A few of the Cool Grad School Kids had it, and I greatly desired the day I could use it too.

It's a Hamlet joke - he banishes Ophelia to a nunnery, implying she's unmarriagable now he's done with her (and also there's a whorehouse/nunnery joke in there). As we all know, grad school makes one unmarriagable, so. Here we are!
