"Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to write a blog entry of some kind with six random facts about yourself. Then, pick six of your friends and tag them; no tag backs. This explanation should be included."

erm... this entry is a placeholder until i think of a creative way to answer this.

I could possibly do that... except I have at least 500 more words to write on a stupid Sociology essay which is due tomorrow at 4 and I have classes all day and HELP ME I HATE THE WORD SUSTAINABILITY!!

breathe.

500 words. you can do that in two hours. 250 words an hour. 125 words in half an hour is nothing.

add another hour for fucking around... you mightn't get much sleep, but you can finish it :)

Yeah, I know. It's just really hard to write, 'cause I don't think I'm answering the question properly.

Sustainability aims to address long standing issues in global life; here in Australia it targets our large cities ringed by suburbs and the massive use of resources, especially that of oil in the daily commuter’s life (unless they choose to utilise public transport), yet it also breaches social boundaries and can provide a sense of community...

Bah.

Haha, yeah, except that's not the question. THAT would be a decent question. MY question is: "How does sustainability address long-standing issues in Australian life?"

WHAT LONG-STANDING ISSUES?!

Bah, people.

i assume you were supposed to identify some long-standing issues before starting the essay...

It's a bit hard with the chapters they give us to read. Suburbs, bakyards, front yards, cars. It requires a lot of energy and thinking to draw, evaluate and argue issues from these...

Is water use a valid issue? That's what I thought of when I saw your mention of suburbs and back and front yards. I know a very posh suburb in Perth which used to have a lovely lake, only now it has an unlovely dustbowl because all the people who couldn't stand the thought of their non-sustainable non-native gardens dying got bore water installed and basically drained the groundwater supply :( I don't imagine so many people enjoy that park now.

Sorry for butting in, but your comment caught my attention.

Yeah, I linked that in with my thing on suburbs. It's one of the main concerns; that and oil usage (I'd say nearly the majority of people in outer suburbs drive to work). Anyway, it's all done (well, short 500 words) and handed in now ^_^
