help Tari pass!
Sep. 3rd, 2006 11:10 amhey guys- Tari's doing an essay on blogging as an ethnographic phenomenon, or something. She needs personal perspectives from bloggers.
This is her rough questionaire (originally written up for some other friends of hers)
any of you who have time either to answer the questions or just make a few comments about blogging in your life, please comment here :)

Ok, the obvious question - Why do you do it? Is it boredom? An outlet for creativity? Just something you love? A means to get recognized? There can be a hundred reasons - if there are, please list them all!!!
Monsy and Mika, you both do photo blogging and don't write much. Why is this? Is it just that you have nothing to say? Have you considered blogging as Arun does?
Has blogging opened up any new avenues so to speak for any of you? Have you met people through it? Have you made any contacts for work etc?
Oh, another point - an important part of ethnographic research is narrative - so if you have any stories related with or to do with blogging, just jot them down as well.
Are there downsides to blogging? Have people ever been offensive? Is there anything you don't like about it?
Arun do you think being a male blogger (is that even a word??) makes a difference?
Monsy and and Miks, what about you'll as female bloggers?
Can each of you describe maybe a minute for minute (at any rate, a detailed) account of what you do when you blog? Like from when you open up the browser, type whatever or post whatever picture, check the comments etc. What does it mean to you? Is it just a pastime? Something more?
Do you think blogging does any of the following? : cement relationships, celebrate consumer culture, exploit people, cause a breakdown of privacy, make the global village even smaller, integrate people or differentiate people?
Does social class, gender, ethnicity, age, expertise etc have anything to do with blogging? Or do you think the beauty of it is that none of that matters?
If you have any friends who blog, just ask them a couple of these questions (don't worry, you don't have to if you don't want to , don't have time etc) and just see what they say and jot down stuff.
Anything else you have to add would be awesome.
Hope this doesn't take too much of your time. Thanks sooooo much, all :) If I think of anything else (this is all pretty much off the top of my head) I'll email again so check reguarly if you can!!!
Thank you thank you thank you :)
Kisses,
Tari xoxox
