Bootham Bar - my way in/out of the city each day.

I decided to undertake the wall walk! But was foiled by an iron gate at the top of these stairs. Of course it turned out that it wasn't locked, as I discovered when I got back here along the top of the wall, having ascended at Monk Bar.

Anyone want to volunteer an explanation for why all the gates of York are something-Bar? And also a number of outlying areas: several of the Park-and-Ride sites are at something-Bar as well.

I didn't get into York Minster.

Now home to a Thai restaurant. I find this somehow satisfying.

I went ferretting around in charity shops on Goodramgate - didn't find any trousers (although I found enough trousers in the wrong size which were made by the same brand as the fabulous pair I picked up in Bristol last year that I retain hope), but did acquire a black, panelled skirt that's both high-waisted and knee-length on me. I think it's a little bigger on me than the one I brought over here last year - I hope so, or my "buy clothes that look similar but fit better" plan has failed. It's still not -perfect- but I couldn't not buy it. The day before yesterday, on the way to the Tower, I also picked up a long-sleeve sweatertop and a green satin evening top from a charity shop. York has good charity shops, I say.

The Merchant Adventurers Hall. At this point I decided it was raining and I was tired and cranky, so I went home instead of going in. I did buy three pairs of tights on the walk between Bootham and here, though! Red ones and blue ones for DRESS LIKE A CRAYON days, and fine-mesh fishnets just because.
