Am in love.

With a band called 'The Chieftains'. They're Irish. But I have a CD of them playing Breton music. So much <3.

Hmmm that name is vaguely familiar. How recent are they?

They've been around for a very long time... maybe 35-ish years? I'm pretty sure my parents have their 30th anniversary album at home.

I've heard of them. Your enthusing inspires me to seek out their mewsik.

Hey, have you ever heard any Secret Garden? Irish violinist and Norwegian everythingist. Very lovely, haunting music.

We had some of their music for our wedding (unfortunately none of it is on Youboob otherwise I'd link it).

Ooooh and have you ever heard Milladoiro? That's Celtic music from the north of Spain. Also blooming gorgeous.

Here's my favourite of theirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iopqayqvxD8

Ooh, yay, the Chieftains! I'm not sure I've heard of this album, though. But now I must know what it's called... you've uttered the B-word.

Also, if you want Celtic music recs, I can probably hook you up. With Canadian groups, at least. And some Irish and Scottish...

It's called 'Celtic Wedding' :D

I want recs of this breton folk music you keep rambling on about :D

Well, I've only just discovered Breton folk music, so really the only two recs I can give you are Alan Stivell and a group called Tri Yann. There are many videos of them on youtube, quite a few featuring bizarre celtic-themed sets and crazy nationalist comment threads.

Now if you're after Cape Breton music, I can be a lot more helpful.

I was thinking of the crazy breton nationalists, I think ;)

But Cape Breton is also acceptable.

Also, I've now found the album on iTunes. Which is slowly sucking up all my moneeeeey... and I want the book of folk music they took the tunes from too. Must go check abebooks...
