On Valedicting...
So, as of tonight, I am officially a Valedict of 2007. Which is a little weird, since I'll be back here next year. There's something to be said for valedicting with your friends... but as my friend groups change every year, and this year they've spread out across various year groups as well, I'm not so sure about that anymore.
First off, my sincere apologies to
kayloulee for the weird school-esque ritual in which the freshers- all 130 of them, more than half the room, were made to get up and sing a slightly doctored version of Hot Stuff, apparently in our honour. Singing and dancing is the sort of thing they make kindy kids do at year six graduations. I'm perplexed. Also, the general reaction from the valedicts seemed to be aaawww how cute. Maybe it's just that I'm a young 'un... but freshers aren't children! Children, by and large, aren't that frustrating. Also, children can't be blamed if they throw up all over the hallway, whereas freshers should damn well know better. (
kayloulee, i assure you, is above such antics)
Secondly, I now have a lovely pair of college champagne flutes.
Thirdly... I like college. But I don't think it's the place where I've forged a lifelong network. A few good friends, yes. But not the HUGE NETWORK OF LIFELONG FRIENDS they promise you at O-week.

Actually, all my friends and I hid in the back and looked sheepishly at each other.
I can't see the point of it, honestly. I mean, just, WHY?! It's not very funny, it just generally sucked, it's embarrassing as hell for EVERYONE (except blonde sopranos-who-go-to-the-Con, naming no names, and anyway everyone knows that sopranos have egos as big as their "Viking" helmets ... did you notice my anti-soprano bias?), it was useless and it meant that we had to wait longer for food.
"the general reaction from the valedicts seemed to be aaawww how cute" - to all the valedicts who thought this: IT WAS BLOODY EMBARRASSING, YOU IDIOTS!
Yes indeed I am above such antics. That is what buckets and industrial-strength cleaner are for (buckets to throw up into, cleaner to clean up afterwards). Not that I drink enough (read, at all) to get into such a situation anyway.
And this is turning into a essay, so I'm going downtown now.
PS I didn't even go to the rehearsal for the singing thing. *fights The Man*

And anyway that singing thing was a heinous travesty against both music and "music".

Most college things are travesties, from what folk say.

I don't read QC, but it's probably only a matter of time.

Also, if my sister finds this hopefully it'll really piss her off. (As will the mobile phone references, hehehe)
