Editorials

Fashion, Modesty and Hijab
not really any new information there but i thought it was well put, and nicely woven into the editoral debate that's been going on for a while now about sexualisation of young girls in fashion and the media.

Lynne Truss Rocks My Socks

Both articles were great, but I especially liked the Lynne Truss one - brilliant! And so very true. I can't believe the story of the teacher who had to cover up that she was *gasp* actually teaching grammar. Dear gods.

I thought the article on modesty was really interesting... funny, when I was in Indonesia I had to cover up all the time, and I actually found it very liberating that nobody was looking at my body. I felt kind of naked when I went home and started dressing in my normal clothes again. I'd never realised until then just how much and how blatantly men tend to stare at cleavage (even not very impressive cleavage).
