I think polyamory rhetoric often reinforces that poor logic, rather than clearing it up. I also think what the poster was TRYING to say was that 'there is no universal set of doctrines on what A Boyfriend Owes A Hypothetical Partner', if his problem is with people knee-jerk reacting to the fact of open relationships.
