While on the topic of V-Day, here's something funny Azzy (rayneshadow) posted in RB:
For those who don't know in Japanese culture on Valentines Day only women give gifts to men - it's not even just a lover-thing. If you work in an office you might get small boxes of chocolates for all your male co-workers.
On White Day (March 14), men who received chocolate on Valentine's Day return the favor and give gifts to women.
It's a kind of neat idea I think... it gives the guys more time to think of what to buy and gets rid of any awkwardness of one person unexpectedly buying something much more expensive than the other.
I also just found out the other day that in Korea there's a "Black Day" on April 14th for people who didn't get anything on either day to dress in black and go out with all their single friends
That reminds me of some 'alternate' V-day suggestions made in Sam In The City: my favourite was the 'bring a dish' party, where every female attendee had to bring a hot, available man for her single friends to enjoy!
